A Roma al Chiostro del Bramante, giovedi’ 13 settembre (dalle 19.00) una serata fashion da non perdere: il primo evento dal titolo Paru Paru (farfalla in flippino), sfilata di beneficenza che partira’ da Roma per toccare poi le piu’ importanti citta’ del mondo nel prossimo anno. I fondi raccolti serviranno per sostenere progetti di svilluppo agricolo ed infrastrutturale delle comunita’ locali in Sud Africa in collaborazione con The Themba Development Project (TDP) e Engineers Without Borders- San Francisco (EWB-SFP).
Mente di questo ambizioso progetto e’ Dia Ates giovane designer nata nelle Filippine ed emigrata a 12 anni a San Francisco. Come racconta lei stessa: “A parte i vestiti che indossavo ed i documenti d’identita’ non avevo nulla ma solo speranze, sogni ed una ferrea determinazione”.
Tutti gli abiti indossati dalle modelle sono disegni originali e confezionati dalla stessa Dia e dal team di giovani talentuosi e entusiasti.
Un aperitivo aprira’ la serata accompagnato da musica del dj Stefano Piccirillo di Radio Kiss Kiss. Si esibiranno anche ballerini Kayumangi (danzatori filippini) e una cantante d’opera.

Dia Ates is excited to cordially invite you to join her first fashion show – PARU PARU – on September 13, 2012 at Chiostro del Bramante, Rome, Italy — a charity event to raise funds for a collaborative project with The Themba Development Project (TDP) and Engineers Without Borders – San Francisco Professionals (EWB-SFP).
Working with EWB-SFP, Dia helped raise over $40,000 to fund their projects in South America. For TDP she organized a small fundraising event in Rome, which raised about €1000 in a few hours. With just that small amount, TDP was able to plant approximately 400 fruit trees and enabled the beginning of a community garden, which are now producing food for the school children and the village of Nqiningana, South Africa.
This year, her goal is take PARU PARU to specific main cities around the globe, starting right from Rome. After the premiere at Chiostro del Bramante, the show will be hosted by exclusive scenarios such as Via dei Coronari and other historical places in Rome, as it also takes off for the global tour.
The funds raised will help us develop the following projects:
Provide financial support to EWB-SFP for their global projects that: improve water supply and agricultural productivity; provide vital transportation link by building bridges to serve remote communities; and improve public health, power systems, and community access to technology in other developing countries. www.ewb-sfp.org
Continue progressive Themba Development Projects in South Africa by helping to “overcome poverty one village at a time” with such programs as: the Nqiningana school food security project, skill building, HIV/AIDS educational program, agricultural and irrigation projects. www.freewebs.com/thembaproject
